When FPT was founded in 1988, nobody imagined it would become Vietnam's largest tech company. The original name stood for "Food Processing Technology." The company long ago left food behind, but the name stuck. In its early days, staff hauled paper manuals from Hong Kong to build Vietnam's first flight booking system — a scrappy origin story for a tech giant.

▍ Language Strategy

At Vietnam's National Digital Technology Enterprise Forum, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh revealed one of the company's key advantages: investing in language learning. FPT trains employees in Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and German. Only by speaking the local language, he argued, can a company truly embed itself in a market. Other software firms focus solely on English and miss this edge.

▍ Absorbing China's Outflows

Truong Gia Binh noted that Vietnam's advantage goes beyond language. As major corporations pull out of China, they bring not just business but entire teams trained over years — transferring accumulated knowledge and expertise to Vietnam.

Drawing on Government Resolution No. 57 of 2024, he outlined FPT's five priority sectors: AI, semiconductors, automotive, digital transformation, and green transition.

▍ Talent Firepower

FPT's strength ultimately rests on people. The company employs 12,000 AI engineers, holds 10,000 NVIDIA certifications, and operates factories in both Vietnam and Japan. With this arsenal, Truong Gia Binh declared: "FPT doesn't just make the future — we build the possibilities."
