\[The Viet Media Launches Its Paid Plan, The Viet Media Pro\]

A while back we sent out a survey. We wanted to know what readers thought of The Viet Media monthly magazine and how they used it. The answers came back remarkably consistent, and honestly, we had braced ourselves for them: if everything is free on the website, why pay for the magazine?

We read them all, and we have to admit it. That question is fair.

The idea behind the magazine was simple. The more people who see information and knowledge about Vietnam, the better. So the articles went on the website for free, the newsletter went out for free, and the magazine was there for anyone who wanted a more comfortable way to read. Nothing wrong with the idea, but it skipped over one problem: free readers and paying readers were getting exactly the same content. The people who paid to support us got nothing extra for it. What started as good intentions had turned into something unfair to them.

Starting in October, the articles on the website and in the newsletter will be split into two tiers, free and paid. The free tier is going to shrink, noticeably. It will keep only short pieces on Vietnam news and key developments, plus the free newsletter. Every in-depth article moves behind the paywall, and some of the free articles already published will become paid as well.

The magazine ends with the September issue. Paid articles take its place from there. You can subscribe directly on our website.

So what do you get as a member of The Viet Media Pro? At least four curated in-depth articles every month. And not just new ones: every paid article we have published, and every one we add in the future, is yours to read. Topics will cover Vietnam's policies, industries, companies, and the stories of the people who shape them. Over time these articles build into a knowledge base on Vietnam, meant to help you understand the context behind the trends rather than just what happened this week.
